Day 9 of our trip to Israel/Palestine

Ruins of the Chacour home in Biram

Today we leave from Mar Elias Guesthouse and travel to the ruins of Biram and then to the Sea of Galilee. My mind has been filled with seeing the sights of Biblical times and hearing from the people who live here.

I will always have a different perspective when reading the bible and picturing where they are. This is really a rocky country with lots of hills. The people in Bible Times must have been in good physical shape to navigate the hills.

It is very disturbing to see and hear the plight of the Palestinian people. The way children are treated badly who throw rocks at the Wall and are traumatized by the Jewish police and soldiers would never happen.

Toomi Magzal showing his home in Biram

At Biram Toomi Magzal showed us around what is left of the village of Biram. He is 91 years old and was 21 when the Israeli military bombed and destroyed the village. When he was showing us what remained of his house and the well that he and his brother dug; he got emotional even all these years later. This happened in 1948 so he has been living with this grieving and wrong for over 70 years. I need to keep praying for these harassed and suppressed people and for Israel that this will stop. Only God can bring healing to this country.
